What Are Dripless Candles?
If you’ve ever designed a centerpiece for a wedding or banquet using candles, you’ve probably experienced the frustration of dripping candles. Just a few minutes after lighting your candles and drips begin to form globs of unsightly shapes at the base of your centerpiece. Luckily, candle makers have responded to this problem by creating a product called dripless candles.
Dripless candles are created by candle makers using two methods that result in an extremely efficient candle. They begin by testing and researching the thickness and treatment of their wicks until they find a nearly perfect balance of wick to wax. They compound this efficiency by dipping their candles for the last few layers in a wax that is treated to burn at a much higher temperature. This outer layer creates a cone for the wax to sit in until it can completely burn away.
Benefits Of Dripless Candles
Because of their long slender shape, taper candles are notorious for dripping excessively as they burn. By purchasing dripless taper candles you can eliminate that problem and enjoy many of the following benefits:
- Cleaner Look – Candles covered in drips and ash simply look less appealing than a pristine dripless candle. Non-drip candles look just as good after three hours of burning as they did when you lit them.
- Safety – Hot wax poses a serious safety hazard specificity if you are using them in a hung candle holder like a chandelier or scone. Anytime the safety of your guests in in question, always choose dripless candles.
- Longer Burn – In general, non-drip candles burn longer than regular candles.
- Smoke Free – Because they burn with such precision, most dripless candles burn smoke and soot free.
The only real disadvantage of dripless candles is the cost. However, for all of the benefits, they still provide a great value.
